5-Hydroxytryptophan: Storage Methods

Refer to the label of your individual 5-hydroxytryptophan product for information on how best to store 5-hydroxytryptophan. Keep 5-hydroxytryptophan and all other medications or supplements out of the reach of children.

How Does 5-Hydroxytryptophan Work?

The body converts 5-hydroxytryptophan into serotonin, a very important brain chemical. As a result, taking 5-hydroxytryptophan can increase serotonin levels, which theoretically may help with a variety of conditions, especially mood disorders (such as depression). In addition to affecting mood, serotonin has several other actions in the body, which may be how 5-hydroxytryptophan works for other conditions.

Is 5-Hydroxytryptophan Effective?

There are studies that suggest that 5-hydroxytryptophan may work for depression and fibromyalgia. However, not enough research has been done to know if 5-hydroxytryptophan is effective for other uses.
