You can try different things to help the muscles and ligaments in your pelvis. The first thing to try is not straining your pelvic muscles. You can do this by losing weight, stopping smoking, drinking plenty of water, and not pushing when you have a bowel movement. There are also special exercises, called Kegel exercises, which you can try. If these don't work, your doctor might try vaginal estrogen or pessaries.
Taking extra estrogen can help tighten up the muscles in your pelvis. This can give better support to your uterus and other organs. This is usually the best when only a little bit of relaxation has happened.
Pessaries are devices made of rubber or plastic. They support relaxed organs by giving them extra strength and stability. Usually, the uterus can stay in your body when you have one of these. Pessaries can be good for people who should not have a hysterectomy because it is too dangerous for them. If the pessary doesn't work, hysterectomy may be the next thing to try.
