Drug Interactions With Amethia

Before starting Amethia, make sure your healthcare provider knows about any other medicine, vitamin, or herbal supplement you are taking. Combining Amethia with certain drugs, including barbiturates, certain seizure medications, and St. John's wort, can lead to negative interactions. Some of these reactions may decrease the effectiveness of the birth control pill, possibly increasing your risk of pregnancy.

An Introduction to Amethia Interactions

 Amethia™ (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol) may react with a number of other medications. Some of the drugs that can lead to interactions with Amethia include but are not limited to:
 
 
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
  • Certain seizure medications, such as:
