Insulin
Because you may eat less while taking benzphetamine, your healthcare provider may need to decrease your insulin dose.
 
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Taking benzphetamine and MOA inhibitors together can cause life-threatening side effects, such as very high blood pressure. Do not take benzphetamine if you have taken an MAOI within the past 14 days.
 
Sodium Bicarbonate
Sodium bicarbonate (when taken as a medication, not in normal food use) can increase the level of benzphetamine in your blood, increasing your risk of benzphetamine side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
 
Tricyclic Antidepressants
Taking benzphetamine with a tricyclic antidepressant can increase the risk of dangerous side effects from either medication. Check with your healthcare provider before combining benzphetamine with a tricyclic antidepressant.
 
Tromethamine (THAM)
Tromethamine can increase the level of benzphetamine in your blood, increasing the risk of side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking tromethamine and benzphetamine together.
