Drug Interactions With Benzphetamine

Drug interactions with benzphetamine may occur if it is used with medications such as insulin, MAOIs, or tricyclic antidepressants. Some drug interactions that may occur with benzphetamine (such as those involving MAOIs) can be very dangerous because they can cause very high blood pressure. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you may also be taking to help prevent possible drug interactions.

An Introduction to Drug Interactions With Benzphetamine

Benzphetamine hydrochloride (Didrex®) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to benzphetamine interactions include:
 
  • Any other weight loss medications or supplements 
  • Insulin
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:

 

 

 

 

  • Tromethamine (THAM®).
