General Information on Receiving Depo-SubQ Provera 104

Some considerations to keep in mind during treatment with depo-subQ Provera 104 include the following:
  • This medication is given as a subcutaneous injection (an injection into the tissue just below the skin) every 12 to 14 weeks.
  • The shot is usually given just under the skin on the thigh or abdomen (stomach).
  • The injection will usually be given by a healthcare provider in an office or clinic.
  • depo-subQ Provera 104 should not be used long-term (longer than two years), unless absolutely necessary.
  • For this drug to work properly, it must be used as prescribed. Make sure to keep all of your appointments with your healthcare provider to avoid missing a dosage.
