Drug Interactions With Dinoprostone Vaginal Gel

Dinoprostone vaginal gel (Prepidil®) is unlikely to react with most other drugs. However, it may interact with oxytocin (Pitocin®). Oxytocin is a medication used to stimulate labor, and dinoprostone vaginal gel may increase its effects. The manufacturer of dinoprostone vaginal gel recommends that if oxytocin is to be used, it should be given 6 to 12 hours after dinoprostone vaginal gel.
It is possible that not all dinoprostone vaginal gel drug interactions were discussed in this article. Although dinoprostone vaginal gel is not expected to interfere with most medications, it is important to remember that it has not been studied with every medicine. Interactions may be discovered in the future.
