Drug Interactions With Estarylla

Cyclosporine, barbiturates, and certain antibiotics may cause drug interactions with Estarylla. Many of these reactions can reduce the effectiveness of Estarylla, possibly increasing the chance of unintentional pregnancy. To help reduce your risk, tell your healthcare provider about all other products you are taking, including vitamins, herbal supplements, and prescription and nonprescription medications.

An Introduction to Estarylla Interactions

Estarylla™ (norgestimate/ethinyl estradiol) may react with a number of other products. In some cases, these interactions can be severe enough to increase the risk of unintentional pregnancy, in which case a backup method of birth control is usually recommended. If you do not know what to do about any particular Estarylla drug interaction, it is a good idea to use a backup birth control method until you can speak with your healthcare provider.
Some of the drugs that can react with Estarylla include but are not limited to:
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Antibiotics
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Atorvastatin (Lipitor®) or combination medications that contain atorvastatin (Caduet®, Liptruzet™)
  • Barbiturate medications, such as:
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
