Estradiol Vaginal Tablets Dosage

The standard recommended estradiol vaginal tablets dosage is one tablet inserted vaginally once a day for the first two weeks. After that, the dose is reduced to one tablet twice a week. Because the tablets should be used only as long as necessary, your healthcare provider may have you occasionally stop taking your estradiol vaginal tablets dosage.

There is only one standard estradiol vaginal tablets (Vagifem®) dosage. As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

The standard recommended estradiol vaginal tablets dosage for treating vaginal menopause symptoms is one tablet (25 mcg or 0.025 mg) inserted vaginally once daily for the first two weeks. After that, the dose is reduced to one tablet twice weekly.
 
It is recommended that hormone replacement therapy medications (including estradiol vaginal tablets) be used only as long as necessary. Therefore, your healthcare provider may recommend that you occasionally try to stop the medication to see if you still need to take it.
 

General Information on Your Estradiol Vaginal Tablets Dosage

Considerations for people using estradiol vaginal tablets include the following:
 
  • Each tablet comes packaged in a single-use, disposable applicator tube. The applicator is inserted vaginally (much like a tampon), and the tablet is released by pushing the plunger.
     
  • Your package of estradiol vaginal tablets comes with detailed instructions on how to use the medication.
     
  • Dispose of the applicator just as you would a plastic tampon applicator (do not flush it).
     
  • Estradiol vaginal tablets are typically used daily for the first two weeks; after that, they are generally used just twice a week.
     
  • If you accidentally release the tablet from the applicator before inserting it vaginally, do not try to replace the tablet into the applicator. Simply throw it away and use a new one.
     
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
