Femcon Fe warnings and precautions also extend to women with certain allergies, as well as women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Femcon Fe: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

Although birth control pills are a convenient and effective method of birth control, they are not safe for all women. You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using Femcon™ Fe (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) if you have:

A history of blood clots or a clotting disorder
Chest pain
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice) during a prior pregnancy or oral contraceptive use
Depression
High cholesterol
Gallbladder disease
Heart valve problems
Liver disease, such as liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver tumors
Cancer (or if you have had cancer in the past)
A history of heart attack or stroke
Unexplained, abnormal vaginal bleeding.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:

Smoke cigarettes
Have an upcoming surgery
Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
Are breastfeeding.

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
