Hodia Gordonii

Were you looking for information about Hoodia Gordonii? Hodia gordonii is a common misspelling of Hoodia gordonii.
Hoodia gordonii is an herbal supplement that is usually marketed as a weight-loss product. The medicine, which is available over the counter, is believed to work by suppressing the appetite. At this time, no clinical studies have been conducted to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the supplement. Since the drug has not been adequately studied, it is not known if it may cause side effects. Be sure to talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking hoodia products if you have:
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure
  • Liver disease, including liver failure, cirrhosis, or hepatitis
  • Any other chronic disease or health problem.
The Hoodia gordonii plant is not grown easily or quickly. Currently, there are a large number of products that claim to contain extracts from this plant. However, since there is a limited supply of plants available, there have been several reports claiming that many marketed hoodia supplements contain very little or no hoodia at all.
