Drug Interactions With Hydroxycitric Acid

No drug interactions with hydroxycitric acid are known at this time, because the supplement has not been studied in combination with drugs or other supplements. It may interact with diabetes medications, so you might need to monitor your blood sugar more often or your diabetes medicines may need to be adjusted. Ask your healthcare provider about drug interactions with hydroxycitric acid that may apply to you before taking it.

Does Hydroxycitric Acid Interact With Other Drugs?

It is not known if hydroxycitric acid (HCA) interacts with other drugs, supplements, or foods. Hydroxycitric acid has not been studied in combination with most other drugs or supplements, so it is impossible to predict if it can safely be taken with any other substances.
Currently, almost no information is available about drug interactions with hydroxycitric acid. If you take any other medications or supplements, please talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the interactions that may apply to you. Some medications are so sensitive that even very small changes can have disastrous effects. If you are taking any such medications, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely, just in case hydroxycitric acid interacts with them.
In addition, since hydroxycitric acid claims to affect the body's ability to store fat and to digest carbohydrates, it is reasonable to predict that hydroxycitric acid may possibly interact with diabetes medications. If you have diabetes, please check with your healthcare provider before trying hydroxycitric acid. You may need to monitor your blood sugar more closely, and your healthcare provider may need to adjust the dose of your diabetes medications.
