Jolessa Dosage

For women taking Jolessa, the standard dose is one tablet a day. The first 84 tablets in each pack contain the active ingredients. The last seven tablets have no active ingredients; they give your body a break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period. Because missing doses increases your risk of pregnancy, it's important to take each pill at the same time each day.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Jolessa

There is only one standard dose of Jolessa™ (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol). As always, do not adjust this amount unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Jolessa Dosing for Birth Control

When you take Jolessa for the first time, start the pack on the first Sunday after your period starts. If your period happens to start on a Sunday, start the pack on the first day of your period. For the first seven days when you start Jolessa, a backup method of contraception (such as condoms) is necessary. From then on, take one tablet every day.
Starting at the beginning of the pack, take one tablet at the same time each day. Each pack will last for 13 weeks (91 days) and contains tablets in three trays. Start at the front card and continue through the pack. After you finish one pack, immediately start a new one -- do not wait any days between packs.
The first 84 tablets contain the active ingredients, and the last 7 tablets contain no active ingredients. By taking these seven tablets, your body gets a break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period.
You may experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods. This is not your period; keep taking Jolessa as usual. The bleeding or spotting is common and usually improves with time.
