Jolessa Drug Interactions

Antibiotics, atorvastatin, and carbamazepine are some of the drugs that can interact with Jolessa. Many of these interactions can reduce the effectiveness of Jolessa, possibly increasing the chance of unintentional pregnancy. To help reduce your risk, tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including herbal supplements.

An Introduction to Drug Interactions With Jolessa

Jolessa™ (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol) can potentially interact with numerous other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to Jolessa drug interactions include:
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Antibiotics
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Atorvastatin (Lipitor®) or combination medications that contain atorvastatin (Caduet®, Liptruzet™)
  • Barbiturate medications, such as:
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
