Kelnor Warnings and Precautions

To help reduce risks or complications, talk to your healthcare provider about the warnings and precautions with Kelnor before using this birth control pill. You should not use the drug if you have heart disease, liver tumors, or certain allergies. In addition, Kelnor may increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and blood clots. Kelnor warnings and precautions also extend to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Kelnor: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using Kelnor™ (ethynodiol diacetate/ethinyl estradiol) if you have:

A clotting disorder or have ever had a blood clot
A history of heart attack or stroke
High blood pressure (hypertension)
High cholesterol
Chest pain
Gallbladder disease
Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice) during a prior pregnancy or oral contraceptive use
Diabetes
Depression
Migraines or other severe headaches
Liver disease, such as liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver tumors
Cancer (or if you have had cancer in the past)
Unexplained vaginal bleeding
Any allergies, including allergies to dyes, foods, or preservatives.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:

Have an upcoming surgery
Smoke cigarettes
Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
Are breastfeeding.

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
