Drug Interactions With Larin Fe

More Detail on Drug Interactions With Larin Fe

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when Larin Fe is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Aminoglutethimide
Taking Larin Fe with aminoglutethimide may increase your risk of unintentional pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms.

Antibiotics
There have been many reports of accidental pregnancies occurring in women taking birth control pills and certain antibiotics together. However, the significance of these interactions is still uncertain, as studies have not shown most antibiotics to be likely to cause birth control pill failure.
Some antibiotics are more likely to cause problems than others. If you are taking an antibiotic, ask your healthcare provider if you need to use a backup method of contraception (see Antibiotics and Birth Control Pills for more information).

Aprepitant
Aprepitant can make Larin Fe less effective, perhaps increasing your chance of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception.

Barbiturates
Barbiturates may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Larin Fe too quickly, potentially increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a barbiturate.

Cyclosporine
Larin Fe may increase the level of cyclosporine in your blood, possibly increasing the chance of side effects of cyclosporine. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. You may need a lower cyclosporine dose, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.

Dexamethasone
Combining dexamethasone with Larin Fe may increase your risk of pregnancy. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together, as you may need to use a backup method of birth control.

Many Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Larin Fe too quickly, possibly increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a seizure medication.

Modafinil
Modafinil can make Larin Fe less effective, perhaps increasing your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider, as you may need to use a backup method of contraception.

Protease Inhibitors
Using Larin Fe with a protease inhibitor may increase your risk of pregnancy and can make the protease inhibitor less effective. Talk with your healthcare provider before combining these medications.

Selegiline
The hormones in Larin Fe may increase the level of selegiline in your blood, possibly increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your selegiline dosage or may recommend an alternate form of contraception.

St. John's Wort
St. John's wort (a commonly used herbal supplement) may decrease the effectiveness of Larin Fe, perhaps increasing the chance of pregnancy. In general, you should not take St. John's wort while using Larin Fe.

Theophylline
Larin Fe may increase the level of theophylline in your blood, possibly increasing the chance of theophylline side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. You may need a lower theophylline dose, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.
