Loestrin Fe Warnings and Precautions

Let your healthcare provider know if you have certain health conditions (such as gallbladder disease, depression, or high blood pressure) before starting Loestrin Fe. Warnings and precautions also include watching out for potential drug interactions and avoiding the medication if you have heart disease, a clotting disorder, or liver tumors. Loestrin Fe may also increase your risk of strokes, heart attacks, or blood clots.

Loestrin Fe: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to using Loestrin^® Fe (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) if you have:

A history of heart attack or stroke
A history of blood clots or a clotting disorder
Chest pain (angina)
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice) during a prior pregnancy or oral contraceptive use
High cholesterol
Gallbladder disease
Depression
Heart disease
Diabetes
Liver disease, such as liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver tumors
Cancer (or if you have had cancer in the past)
Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:

A smoker
Over 35 years old
Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
Breastfeeding.

Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
