Drug Interactions With Lorcaserin

Certain Antipsychotic Medications
Lorcaserin may increase the level of many antipsychotic medications in your blood, which could cause potentially serious side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before combining lorcaserin with one of these medications.
Certain Blood Pressure Medications
Lorcaserin can increase the level of many blood pressure medications in your blood, which could cause your blood pressure to become too low. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease the dose of your blood pressure medication if you take lorcaserin with one of these medications.
Class I Arrhythmia Medications
Lorcaserin may increase the level of certain arrhythmia medicines in your blood, which could cause potentially dangerous side effects. Do not take these medicines together without first talking to your healthcare provider.
Codeine
Taking lorcaserin with codeine may change the way your body processes codeine, potentially making it less effective. If you take codeine with lorcaserin, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if it no longer works as well.
Dextromethorphan
Lorcaserin may increase the level of dextromethorphan in your body. In addition, taking these medications together can increase your risk for a potentially serious reaction known as serotonin syndrome. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. If you need a cough medication while taking lorcaserin, your healthcare provider may be able to recommend something that is less likely to interact with lorcaserin.
Donepezil
Lorcaserin may increase the amount of donepezil in your body, increasing your risk for donepezil side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction if you take these medicines together.
