LoSeasonique Drug Interactions

Certain Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in LoSeasonique too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a seizure medication.
Colesevelam
Colesevelam can bind to the hormones in LoSeasonique in the digestive tract, preventing them from being absorbed into the bloodstream. This may increase the risk of pregnancy. Make sure to take LoSeasonique at least four hours before your dose of colesevelam.
Cyclosporine
LoSeasonique may increase the level of cyclosporine in your blood, possibly increasing the chance of side effects of cyclosporine. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. You may need a lower cyclosporine dosage, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.
Modafinil
Modafinil can make LoSeasonique less effective, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider, as you may need to use a backup method of contraception.
Mycophenolate Mofetil
Mycophenolate mofetil can make LoSeasonique less effective, possibly increasing your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider, as you may need to use a backup method of contraception.
Protease Inhibitors
Using LoSeasonique with a protease inhibitor may increase your risk of pregnancy and can make the protease inhibitor less effective. Talk with your healthcare provider before combining these medications.
Selegiline
The hormones in LoSeasonique may increase the level of selegiline in your blood, which could increase your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your selegiline dosage or may recommend an alternate form of contraception.
