Women Home > Estarylla

Available by prescription only, Estarylla is a birth control pill that is taken once a day, at the same time each day. While most women tolerate this contraceptive well, side effects are possible and include nausea, headaches, and breast tenderness. This generic version of Ortho-Cyclen works by preventing ovulation, changing the cervical mucus, and altering the uterine lining.

What Is Estarylla?

Estarylla™ (norgestimate/ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription oral contraceptive, also known as a birth control pill. This medication is a generic version of Ortho-Cyclen®.

Are There Side Effects?

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Estarylla. However, not everyone who uses the contraceptive will experience problems. In fact, most women tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Common side effects seen with Estarylla include but are not limited to:
  • Breast tenderness or swelling
  • Nausea (with or without vomiting)
  • Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding or spotting between periods)
  • Headaches.
