Lorcaserin is a medicine prescribed to help people lose weight. It is designed for use in people who are obese or have a health condition caused from being overweight. It comes as a tablet and is usually taken twice a day. For best results, use this medication in combination with a reduced-calorie diet and a regular exercise plan.

What Is Lorcaserin?

Lorcaserin (Belviq®) is a prescription medication approved to help with weight loss in people who are obese or overweight and have at least one weight-related health problem. It is meant to be used in combination with a low-calorie diet and exercise. It contains the active ingredient lorcaserin hydrochloride.

Are There Side Effects?

Just like any medicine, lorcaserin can cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
