Polidocanol (
Asclera™) is a prescription medication. It is used to treat
spider veins and reticular veins (two common types of
varicose veins). It is injected directly into the affected veins.
Are There Side Effects?
Just like any medicine, polidocanol can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. Most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Possible polidocanol side effects include but are not limited to:
- Bruising
- Irritation
- Discoloration
- Pain.
