Sprintec is a generic birth control pill that is available by prescription only. It is a combined oral contraceptive (containing both estrogen and progestin) that prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation and altering the endometrium and cervical mucus. Sprintec packs come with 28 tablets, which must be taken once daily. While most people tolerate the drug well, potential side effects include nausea, headache, and breakthrough bleeding.
Side Effects of SprintecAs with any medicine, side effects are possible with Sprintec. However, not everyone who uses the contraceptive will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
- Breast tenderness or swelling
- Breakthrough bleeding (bleeding or spotting between periods)
- Nausea or vomiting
