Women Home > Azurette Birth Control Information

AzuretteTM (desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol) is a generic version of the prescription birth control pill Mircette®. As a combined hormonal contraceptive, it works to prevent pregnancy in a few different ways, but primarily by stopping a woman from ovulating. The medicine comes in tablet form and is designed to be taken every day -- preferably at the same time each day.
When considering this form of birth control, information your healthcare provider needs includes a complete list of all medications you are taking, including nonprescription products and herbal supplements, as well as a complete medical history. This will help your healthcare provider decide if Azurette is the right birth control pill for you. Some women cannot take it due to certain medical conditions, and Azurette can react negatively with certain drugs.
