Who Should Not Take Macrodantin?

You should not take this drug if you:
  • Are allergic to it, or if you have any allergies to nitrofurantoin or any inactive ingredients used to make Macrodantin. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
  • Are near the end of pregnancy (38 weeks or beyond) or are in labor.
  • Have severe kidney problems.
  • Have had liver problems due to nitrofurantoin before.
Nitrofurantoin products (including Macrodantin) should never be given to infants under one month of age.
