Drug Interactions With Mifepristone

More Information on Drug Interactions With Mifepristone

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when mifepristone is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Aripiprazole
Mifepristone can increase aripiprazole blood levels, which could increase your risk for aripiprazole side effects. If you are taking aripiprazole, talk to your healthcare provider before taking mifepristone.
Bupropion
Mifepristone can increase the level of bupropion in your body, which could increase your risk for bupropion side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider if you will be taking these medicines together. If you experience side effects, your healthcare provider may recommend a lower bupropion dosage.
Certain Statin Medicines
Mifepristone may increase blood levels of certain statin medicines, which could increase your risk for potentially serious side effects, including muscle problems. This interaction does not occur with all statin medications. Therefore, if you need a statin during treatment, your healthcare provider will choose one that does not interact with mifepristone.
Corticosteroids
People on long-term corticosteroid treatment should not use mifepristone. If you currently take a corticosteroid, talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction before taking mifepristone.
Cyclosporine
Mifepristone can increase the level of cyclosporine in your body, increasing your risk for potentially serious side effects. In general, these medicines should not be used together, unless mifepristone is being used to end a pregnancy.
CYP 3A4 Inducer Medications
The liver breaks down mifepristone using enzymes known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Certain medications known as CYP 3A4 inducers can increase the activity of these enzymes. Combining mifepristone with one of these CYP 3A4 inducers may decrease the level of mifepristone in your blood, potentially making it less effective. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking mifepristone with a CYP 3A4 inducer.
