Clinical Effects

Studies have shown that milnacipran can significantly reduce pain and improve physical functioning, compared to a placebo (a "sugar pill" with no active ingredients). In these studies, some people experienced significant pain relief as early as the first week of taking the medication.

  • Milnacipran is started with a low dose and then slowly increased. Be sure to follow your dosing instructions carefully.
  • Be sure to take this medication at the same times each day to keep an even level in your blood.
  • For milnacipran to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. Do not stop taking this medication suddenly, as withdrawal symptoms could occur.
