Neevo DHA Drug Interactions

Neevo DHA Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Neevo DHA is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Aspirin (Bayer, Ecotrin)
In theory, the omega-3 fatty acids in Neevo DHA may increase the risk of bleeding when combined with aspirin. However, aspirin should be avoided by most pregnant women anyway. One low-dose aspirin (81 mg) a day, which is sometimes recommended for certain conditions related to pregnancy, is not likely to cause any problems.
The minerals in Neevo DHA may decrease the absorption of bisphosphonates into the body. However, bisphosphonates are usually not recommended for pregnant women, so this is not usually a problem. In the unlikely event that your healthcare provider recommends that you take both Neevo DHA and a bisphosphonate, take Neevo DHA at least two hours after your bisphosphonate dose.
This interaction is not a concern with injected bisphosphonates.
Folic acid might decrease the effectiveness of phenytoin, although such an interaction has not been reported with Metafolin® (the active form of folic acid used in Neevo DHA). Either way, it is especially important for women who must take seizure medications like phenytoin to take folic acid (or Metafolin) during pregnancy, despite this potential interaction.
Quinolone Antibiotics
The minerals in Neevo DHA may prevent fluoroquinolone antibiotics from being absorbed into the body as well as they normally should. If your healthcare provider recommends that you take both Neevo DHA and a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, be sure to take the antibiotic at least two hours before or six hours after your Neevo DHA dosage.
