Nestabs DHA Overdose

Treatment Options for a Nestabs DHA Overdose

The treatment for this type of overdose will likely vary. If the overdose was recent, a healthcare provider may give you certain medicines to induce vomiting or place a tube into the stomach to "pump" it. A medication known as deferoxamine (Desferal®) may also be given to bind to any excess iron in the blood so it can be removed from the body.
Treatment will also involve supportive care, which consists of treating the symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose. Supportive treatment options for an overdose on Nestabs DHA may include:
  • Close monitoring of temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure
  • Fluids through an intravenous line (IV), if necessary, for dehydration
  • Blood tests to measure the amount of iron in the blood.
It is important that you seek medical attention immediately if you believe that you or someone else may have taken too much of this product. It is also important to store all prenatal vitamins, including Nestabs DHA, out of the reach of children to help prevent an accidental overdose.
