Nestabs DHA

When and How to Take It

Some general considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Nestabs DHA include the following:
  • This medication comes in the form of a tablet (which provides the vitamins and minerals) and a softgel capsule (which provides the DHA and EPA). It is normally taken by mouth once a day.
  • The tablet and gelcap can be taken at the same time or at separate times of the day.
  • You can take this product with or without food. Taking it on an empty stomach may help improve the absorption of the iron in the vitamin, but most women find that taking it with food can help reduce stomach upset.
  • You can take Nestabs DHA any time of the day. However, try to take your dose about the same time every day.
  • Let your healthcare provider know if Nestabs DHA causes significant nausea or vomiting. Your healthcare provider may have some useful suggestions or may be able to recommend a different prenatal vitamin.
  • For the prenatal vitamin to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.

If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
