Nystatin Oral Suspension

Nystatin is a medication that can be prescribed to treat many different types of fungal infections. It comes in various forms and strengths; some products are applied to the skin, while others are taken by mouth.
The tablet and oral suspension forms of nystatin are used for treating fungal infections of the digestive tract. Fungal infections that occur on the surface of the skin (such as diaper rash) can be treated with the creams, ointments, or powder.
Be sure to shake the oral suspension well before each dose. It is usually recommended to swish the oral suspension well before swallowing it (which is why this product is often referred to as "nystatin swish and swallow"). Simply swallowing the dose without swishing it or holding it in the mouth will be ineffective, as nystatin works directly in contact with the mouth (not through the bloodstream).
