Nystatin Pills

Part of a class of drugs known as antifungals, nystatin is used for treating yeast infections, thrush, and various other fungal infections. It comes in many different forms and is available by prescription only. Some products are taken by mouth (liquid and pills), while other forms of nystatin are applied to the skin (cream, ointment, and powder).
The oral tablets are approved for treating fungal infections of the digestive tract. They contain 500,000 units per tablet. Unlike most other medications, nystatin is not significantly absorbed into the bloodstream (even when taken by mouth), as it stays in the digestive tract and is excreted through the feces.
