Nystatin Uses

Can Children Use It?

This medicine is approved for use in children. It has been shown to be safe and effective even in newborns. Talk with your child's healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using nystatin in children.
Nystatin is commonly used to treat diaper rashes caused by yeast infections and to treat thrush. Keep in mind that when treating thrush in a breastfed infant, it is often necessary to treat both the infant and the mother.

Off-Label Uses for Nystatin

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend nystatin for something other than the uses discussed in this article. Using nystatin to treat any other type of fungal infections other than Candida infections or to prevent any type of infection would be considered to be an off-label use.
