Ortho Micronor

Ortho Micronor is a progestin-only birth control pill that is available by prescription. It is a popular choice for breastfeeding women and women who should not take estrogens. Since Ortho Micronor contains only one type of hormone, however, it is slightly less effective than combined oral contraceptives (which contain estrogen and progestin). Potential side effects include irregular menstrual periods, nausea, headaches, and breast tenderness.

What Is Ortho Micronor?

Ortho Micronor® (norethindrone) is a prescription oral contraceptive, also known as a birth control pill. Unlike most birth control pills, Ortho Micronor does not contain estrogen (it contains only a progestin hormone). As a progestin-only contraceptive (also known as a "mini-pill"), Ortho Micronor is an ideal choice for breastfeeding mothers and other women who should not take estrogens.
