Prostin E2 Drug Interactions

Although Prostin E2® (dinoprostone vaginal suppository) is unlikely to interact with most other drugs, it may react with oxytocin (Pitocin®). Oxytocin is used to stimulate labor by causing contractions of the uterus. Because Prostin E2 also causes uterine contractions, it may increase the effects of oxytocin. The manufacturer of Prostin E2 recommends it not be used in combination with other medications that stimulate contractions of the uterus.
It is possible that not all Prostin E2 drug interactions were discussed in this article. Although Prostin E2 is not expected to interact with most medications, it is important to remember that it has not been studied with every medicine. Drug interactions may be discovered in the future. Therefore, tell your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and vitamins or supplements.
