How Does Prostin E2 Work?
Prostin E2 is a manufactured (synthetic) version of prostaglandin E2, a natural substance made by the body. Prostaglandin E2 is naturally secreted by the fetus and placenta during pregnancy. It plays an important role in the steps leading to labor by relaxing and softening the cervix to allow passage of the baby and increasing contractions
. Like naturally occurring prostaglandin, Prostin E2 causes the uterus to contract and push out the contents of conception, including the fetus and placenta.
