Provera 5 Mg

Before prescribing Provera® (medroxyprogesterone acetate), your healthcare provider will take into consideration several factors when determining your dosage. Some of these factors include the reason why you are taking this medicine and how you respond to it.
Provera comes in tablet form and is available in three strengths: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg. The standard dosage for treating amenorrhea (absence of menstrual periods) or abnormal vaginal bleeding is Provera 5 mg or 10 mg daily. The number of days you will take this medicine will depend on which menstrual problem is being treated.
Provera tablets also can be used for preventing a thickening of the lining of the uterus in postmenopausal women. It is typically recommended that women use the lowest effective dose of Provera for this purpose.
