Sculptra Injection

A healthcare provider may administer Sculptra® (injectable poly-L lactic acid) injections to help correct facial fat loss, wrinkles, or facial fold lines. This product is a type of facial filler and works by stimulating the body to replace lost collagen.
It typically takes at least three treatment sessions (with two to three weeks between each one) to achieve the desired result. Although an immediate "filling" result is seen, this diminishes over the first 24 hours as the liquid portion of the injection is absorbed into the body. The more long-lasting results are seen much more gradually (over weeks or months). Clinical studies have shown that injections of Sculptra are effective for up to 25 months.
In most cases, people tolerate this product well. However, side effects can occur and may include swelling, tenderness, and pain.
