Seasonique Drug Interactions

Cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
Seasonique may increase the level of cyclosporine in your blood, possibly increasing the chance of side effects of cyclosporine. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. You may need a lower cyclosporine dose, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.
Modafinil (Provigil)
Modafinil can make Seasonique less effective, possibly increasing your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider, as you may need to use a backup method of contraception while you are taking modafinil.
Protease Inhibitors
Using Seasonique with a protease inhibitor may increase your risk of pregnancy and can make the protease inhibitor less effective. Talk with your healthcare provider before combining Seasonique with a protease inhibitor.
Selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam, Zelapar)
The hormones in Seasonique may increase the level of selegiline in your blood, which could increase your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your selegiline dosage or may recommend an alternate form of contraception.
St. John's Wort
St. John's wort (a commonly used herbal supplement) may decrease the effectiveness of Seasonique, potentially increasing the chance of pregnancy. In general, you should not take St. John's wort while using Seasonique.
Theophylline (Uniphyl, Theocron, TheoCap, Theo-24, Elixophyllin)
Seasonique may increase the level of theophylline in your blood, possibly increasing the chance of theophylline side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together. Your theophylline dose may need to be reduced, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.
