Vandazole Drug Interactions

Amprenavir
Combining Vandazole with amprenavir oral solution (but not the other forms of amprenavir) can cause a dangerous interaction with metronidazole, the active ingredient in Vandazole. However, it is unclear if this interaction applies to the vaginal formulations, as only a small amount of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. Check with your healthcare provider before using these drugs together.
Disulfiram
Combining metronidazole and disulfiram can cause psychosis, such as hallucinations. However, it is unclear if this interaction applies to the vaginal formulations of metronidazole, such as Vandazole, as only a small amount of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. Check with your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
The prescribing information for Vandazole recommends not using the medication if you have taken disulfiram within the past two weeks.
Eplerenone
Metronidazole can increase the level of eplerenone in your blood, perhaps increasing your risk for side effects. However, it is unclear if this interaction applies to the vaginal formulations of metronidazole, such as Vandazole, as only a small amount of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. Check with your healthcare provider before using these medications together.
Lithium
Metronidazole can increase the level of lithium in your blood, increasing your risk for lithium toxicity. However, it is unclear if this interaction applies to the vaginal formulations of metronidazole, such as Vandazole, as only a small amount of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. Check with your healthcare provider before using these drugs together.
Your healthcare provider might decide to measure the level of lithium in your blood a few days after you start using Vandazole, as your dosage may need to be adjusted.
