Paroxetine Mesylate Capsules Information

Women who have hot flashes due to menopause may benefit from paroxetine mesylate capsules (BrisdelleTM). This medicine is available by prescription only and is taken once daily at bedtime. It is the first non-hormonal medication approved to treat hot flashes caused by menopause. Although most people who use this medicine tolerate it fairly well, side effects are possible. Some of the potential side effects include nausea, headaches, and fatigue. Fortunately, most reactions to the drug tend to be mild and easy to treat. While this medication can be effective, paroxetine mesylate capsules are not appropriate for everyone. Information on your medical history should be reviewed with your healthcare provider before receiving this medicine to minimize your risk for certain complications. This includes warnings for women who have certain allergies, those with a certain type of glaucoma, or those who have a history of breast cancer.
