Polidocanol Drug Information

Polidocanol (Asclera™) is a medication licensed for the treatment of two specific types of varicose veins: spider veins and reticular veins. This medicine comes in injectable form and is administered directly into a vein. It then acts on the inner lining of the blood vessels, destroying them. Scar tissue forms, and the vein eventually disappears.
If you are considering treatment with polidocanol, inform yourself thoroughly on the healthcare providers in your area who offer this product. This drug must be administered carefully and by a knowledgeable health professional to avoid potentially serious complications. In addition, the healthcare provider must be prepared for the possibility of a life-threatening reaction to polidocanol.
