Portia Birth Control Pills

A generic version of Nordette®, Portia® (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol) is an oral contraceptive, more commonly known as a birth control pill (or simply "the pill"). In addition to being very effective and easy to use, Portia offers the following benefits:
  • Lighter and more regular menstrual bleeding
  • Less menstrual pain
  • Decreased risk of ovarian or endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of the uterus).
Portia is taken once a day, at the same time each day. If you do not take it consistently, it can reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive, meaning that your risk of unintentional pregnancy is greater. Common side effects of birth control pills include but are not limited to:
