Spotting With Yasmin

Yasmin® (drospirenone/ethinyl estradiol) is a birth control pill that is commonly used to prevent pregnancy. A number of side effects may occur with this medication. Some women have reported menstrual changes or problems (such as spotting) with this drug.
It is not uncommon for Yasmin to cause spotting. In clinical studies, more than 1 percent of women using this form of birth control experienced menstrual changes. Side effects of Yasmin are often minor and, in most cases, either do not require medical attention or can be treated easily. However, you should contact your healthcare provider if you experience any unusual vaginal bleeding that does not improve within a few months of starting Yasmin.
